Book Review: Daisy Jones And The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Daisy Jones And The Six is a story about a 70's rock 'n' roll band and all the reasons that led to their breakup. This book is written in transcript form. Imagine watching a documentary with the members of the band, their friends and family, being interviewed, switching from one person to the other. That's exactly how it was written. Probably to make it feel like the band actually existed...because I'm gonna be honest, at one point I thought they were a real band in the 1970's who I probably didn't know about. After some research, turns out they were fictional. lol.
Anyway, I felt like there was no depth in the story 😞 All the substance abuse, band mates falling in love with each other, having one member pissed at the lead, etc. they were all pretty common back in the day if you ask me. I kept reading and reading hoping for a shift in story, a huge revelation or something but nada. As the story progressed, or I guess I should say, that for every revelation from each member, everything that became so predictable.
I heard the book is going to be a TV series soon, which is going to be produced by Reese Witherspoon. I'll probably watch the show and hope it's better than the book. Also, with the amount of songs in the book, I sure do wish they bring it to life cause I'm so curious to know how they'd sound like.
