SEAFOOD KITCHEN FOOD REVIEW

seafood paella

Wow. It's been a while since my last food review that I don't even remember the last time I did one. ahahaha. So anyway, let's get started with the Seafood Kitchen located at the Pointe.

Just from the facade of the restaurant, I already knew it would be a little expensive. The ambience inside proved my instincts correct because I saw a lobster tank and a tiny seafood market. Apparently, you can have the option of choosing the fish you want to be cooked. Also, they serve alcohol, so that's that I guess.

There was definitely a luxury vibe going on at the restaurants from the warm dangling light bulbs.

Anyway, let's get to each of the food we ordered and what I have to say about them.

Starters

Soft Shell Crab Tempura = Dhs 76

deep fried soft crab shells

I couldn't tell how many pieces there were but I remember about 4-5 people having one to get a bite. The first bite was so oily and it literally tasted like oil. I felt like they didn't strain the crabs enough to get rid of it. Thank goodness for the sauce that came with it as it saved the crab. I didn't want to get another bite because the oiliness was just too much.

Garlic Prawns = Dhs 72

garlic prawns with parsley

These were 5 or 6 pcs of tiny prawns cooked in garlic and parsley. I think what made them expensive was the fact that it was fresh. However, it was a little too salty for my palette. And I still feel like these are a little overpriced considering how small the prawns were.

Fried Calamari = Dhs 58

fried calamari

I'm very picky when it comes to squid. The only squid I eat with confidence are the ones we cook at home. These ones? I'm glad they were cooked to perfection. The squid wasn't too tender and even though it got a little cold already, the calamari was still crunchy! Worth the try for Dhs 58.
Main Course

Paella = Dhs 360

SEAFOOD paella

I'm going to be blunt about this....it's disappointing. For a paella that costs 360Dhs, I expected better. It tasted like tap water!!! And I wasn't the only one who tasted it, even my other friends agreed with me. I was done after the first serving. Also!!!! In their picture it was a full lobster, but we only got half of it. *mic drop*

Chargrilled = Dhs 480

grilled seafood with scallops, salmon, squid, mussels, shrimp and half lobster

Here we had some salmon, mussels, scallops, half lobster and squid. I had the salmon and I could tell they were really fresh; they tasted really good too. The shrimps were fresh too and was grilled to perfection. The scallops were also very tasty. I didn't have the lobster and the squid but my friend mentioned that the squid felt salty as if it came right off the ocean onto our plates! It was still a little bit fishy I guess. See, this is why I have trust issues when it comes to squid.

My Final Verdict

Not sure if I want to try out this restaurant again. For the price point I didn't expect this kind of food service. I'm sorry if I have to compare, but the food at Joe's Crab Shack is better. And that's my two cents. byeeeee.
