Book Review: Confess by Colleen Hoover

The confessions in the book are from real people.

Confess by Colleen Hoover Book Review

That's what caught my attention but unfortunately, the confessions ended up playing only a minor role, barely relevant to the overall plot. I really thought I was on to something interesting but the story line was very predictable.

So Auburn Reed is a teen mom struggling under the control of her mother-in-law. Her son's custody rested in the hands of her mother-in-law, leaving Auburn feeling powerless and unable to fight for her own child. She was mere puppet, controlled not only by her mother-in-law but also by her brother-in-law, who also apparently liked her. Desperate for more time with her son, Auburn stooped to degrading measures, willing to do anything to maintain their bond.

Until one day she meets Owen, a guy who she falls in love with who also has his own trauma and eventually, they find out each other's secrets, they both fight for one another, yada-yada...Auburn finally finds the backbone to fight not only for her son but for Owen as well and it was a happy ending for everybody.

I wanted to give this a 2/5 but I'll give it a 3 since the confessions were interesting and a unique way of portraying Owen's art in the book. Not to mention, the confessions were also from real people, one of them shocking me to my core.

If you're a teen mom or a mom in general who deals with a difficult mother in law, maybe you'll like this and relate to this but it's definitely not for me.
