Book Review: Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Warning: spoilers ahead
This book is incredible and deserves all the stars in the universe. I mean it. This story goes to show that traumas experienced by children run deep and they carry it with them for a lifetime. Sure, they can heal from it and move on from it, but it's something that will be a part of them for decades to come.
What Eleanor has gone through wasn't easy. She's had to deal with her abusive mother for a very long time, which cost her to live a downtrodden life. All the insults, the curses and threats, she swallowed them all and lived with it all. But she survived thanks to her friend Raymond. Someone who she never thought she'd build a meaning relationship with who would eventually show her that there was more to life.
I'm not gonna lie, even though Eleanor is a fictional character, she now holds a very special place in my heart. Despite her tragic backstory I found this to be tremendously heartwarming. I couldn't help but shed tears of joy at some parts of the story.
If you haven't read this book yet, please, add it to your tbr. It's a must read!!
