Book Review: The Time of My Life by Cecilia Ahern
Now, I haven't been reading lately and I want to get back into it so I decided to look into more of her books. When I look for a new read, I try not to check the synopsis. I simply rely on my gut instincts. I did just that when I decided to start with The Time of My life.
The story revolves around Lucy Silchester and her Life. And when I say life, I mean, her Life is a real person 😉 Let's name her Life, Cosmo, so it doesn't get confusing as I try to summarize the story. Basically, Lucy's life has become a complete mess and she's tangled in a web of lies. As she continues to spiral down into a black hole, she receives a letter from the Life agency that's prompting her to meet with Cosmo. The interesting part was, when she first saw him (yes, her life was a guy) he was filthy 😅 Cosmo was a mirror of how bad Lucy's life was.
If you ask me, the story was brilliant. It was simple but was told beautifully. How I wished we could also meet our own life in reality. Wouldn't it be amazing to get some guidance from someone who knew us so well inside out? Especially when times get hard. It's even better than therapy and it costs nothing.
As I finished the book, I thought, this would be great as a movie. After doing a little digging, there was in fact a film adaptation on this story but it was filmed in German. The title's Ein Moment fürs Leben. I wish they do an English adaptation and I personally think Isla Fisher would play Lucy's character so well!
That's it for today's quick book review(ish) and I hope you'll give this book a try and enjoy it as much as I do! Thanks for reading!
