A few weeks ago The Style Hub Team came across an innovative design, created to help people with back pain, SpinaliS is the only chair available in the whole world that promotes healthy sitting while keeping it stylish and comfortable. It is a Slovenian product that has been brought over to the UAE because of one man.
The man behind it all: Mr. Ahmed AlZaabi. He is an Emirati and the Managing Director of Boostmee General Trading, who not only has SpinaliS under its umbrella but also holds three other Slovenian products; namely Chipolo, Roll Jet and Lina. Mr. Ahmed AlZaabi is the brain behind Boostmee’s achievements, and he continuously brings Slovenian and European products to the UAE market. We reached out to Mr. Ahmed AlZaabi himself, to get to know more about his products, most especially SpinaliS.
Why are you focused on promoting European, specifically Slovenian products?
We are focused on promoting Slovenian products because of the quality and innovation – Boostmee’s main focus. I visited Slovenia several times and it surprises me every time. It has a lot of potential in people as well as the products that they offer. So years ago, I decided to “dig” into that market and bring to the UAE and GCC markets the products that I find interesting and innovative.
We understand that all four brands (Chipolo, SpinaliS, Roll Jet and Lina) are all Slovenian, besides that main factor, what else connects them all together? What is another thing they have in common?
SpinaliS was our first bigger brand. Our friend’s wife had a back operation and that was a trigger point of bringing SpinaliS in the country. Our company likes sport, this is why we started as a sports equipment trading company, but soon we saw we can offer much more – a lifestyle concept that can enhance our everyday life. And this is what our product is all about – we focus on a millennium consumer, whose lifestyle is divided between jobs, free time, and family. Life of a millennium became more and more connected with the digital world.
Why did you choose to bring SpinaliS into the U.A.E?
As mentioned above it started as a coincidence but later SpinaliS developed as a brand, we truly put a lot of effort in it. SpinaliS is a chair, which promotes active sitting and healthy life, so it is very much in line with Dubai Strategy 2021. We want to educate people of the UAE and GCC about the importance of active sitting and maintaining the correct posture while sitting. In the long run, we can provide help towards individuals, government bodies and private entities in saving a lot of money. Apart from the financial aspect, we can contribute to a life free of pain.
Can you tell us about your first experience with the SpinaliS chair, and what do you think best works for you?
Of course – SpinaliS is an essential part of my life. It was a new experience at first. Why? Because SpinaliS has a movable seat but soon it became part of my everyday life. According to the website, SpinaliS prevents spinal injuries and strengthens back muscles, how?
SpinaliS technology is based on a medical ball technology, which allows your pelvis to move together with the spine. With this, we “force” you to have the correct posture while sitting on SpinaliS. Correct posture means strong back muscles. We forgot about the importance of back muscles, but back muscles are actually the ones, who are “holding us up”. How has SpinaliS been accepted in the UAE so far?
Acceptance so far was good. We are still putting a lot of effort into educating people about “SpinaliS experience”, although we are getting more and more calls from people with a back pain who wants to change something in their daily routine. And if you are a person sitting for four or more hours behind your desk, changing a chair with a SpinaliS chair would be a good start. As we need a good bed, we need a good chair. Our lifestyle became more sedentary, so being aware of that fact – it can also influence the decisions you make in your life.
What are the future plans for SpinaliS? Are there any plans on setting up a shop?
We are spreading into Oman and by end of this year to Saudi Arabia. We just completed furnishing Mazoon Company in Oman with our SpinaliS chairs – all the staff and senior managers will be sitting on SpinaliS chairs. We are focused on tender opportunities as well as individual/retail ones. It is our goal to open a retail shop, where we will provide you with a true “Slovenian experience”. We want to put Slovenian brands under one roof in order to offer them to UAE market and to level up their recognition.
